Nasdaq Launches Carbon Credit Services Leveraging IWA Standards Work

GBBC member Nasdaq launched a new technology solution for digitizing carbon credits. This solution provides secure issuance, settlement, and custody, alongside a suite of APIs, for seamless market participation. The launch leverages the standards work of GBBC’s InterWork Alliance, allowing for the inclusion of new credit types as the market grows. Roland Chai, Executive Vice President and Head of Marketplace Technology at Nasdaq, said, “A lack of system flexibility, standardization, and connectivity has made it challenging for critical infrastructure providers and institutional investors to access the market in a meaningful way. Bringing institutional grade technology to underpin the market will drive ever-greater liquidity across carbon marketplaces and open the possibility of greater interoperability between registries in the future.”
