NIST: Workshop on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies

Apr 16 - Apr 17, 2026

Location IconRockville, MD, USA

What does it actually take to make blockchain systems secure, interoperable, and ready for real-world deployment? On April 16, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will bring that question to the forefront through convening technical experts, policymakers, and industry practitioners for a deep dive into the architecture of digital infrastructure.

This is not a high-level conversation, it is where implementation meets reality. From cybersecurity risks, interoperability gaps, to the role of standards in shaping next-generation systems, this workshop will focus on the technical challenges emerging across live DLT deployments. GBBC’s Diana Oreto (Barrero Zalles), Head of GSMI and Research, will be participating in the discussions, contributing to ongoing dialogue at the intersection of standards, security, and innovation.

As blockchain continues to move from concept to infrastructure, the conversations happening here will help define how it is built, as well as how it scales.
