
Michael Casey
Michael J. Casey works as a Senior Advisor at MIT's Media Lab on the Digital Currency Initiative. He has been a columnist, covering global economics and markets at The Wall Street Journal. Along with WSJ Moneybeat blogger Paul Vigna, Michael is the co-author of the forthcoming The Age of Cryptocurrency, a book about bitcoin and its potential impact on the global economy. Michael's "Horizons" column appears on Moneybeat, as does his daily "Macro Horizons" report, a roundup of global economic and financial events. Casey has been a regular host of the AM News Hub show on WSJ Live. In a career spanning Perth, Bangkok, Jakarta, Buenos Aires and New York, he has covered currencies, bonds, equities and economic policy for Dow Jones Newswires and The Journal. Prior to The Age of Cryptocurrency, Casey authored two earlier books: The Unfair Trade, a book on the global dimensions of the financial crisis and Che’s Afterlife, about the international impact of Alberto Korda’s iconic image of Che Guevara. He is a graduate of the University of Western Australia and has a Master’s Degree from Cornell University.
