Jenny E. Cieplak is a partner at the New York office of global law firm Latham & Watkins.  She provides counsel to financial institutions, investors, startups, and newly created consortiums on the corporate, intellectual property, and regulatory issues arising in the deployment of new technologies in the financial industry.  Her practice converges at the intersection of industry regulation, emerging technology, and financial services.  Jenny is renowned for her innovative approaches to leveraging advanced financial technology including distributed ledgers and artificial intelligence.  Jenny’s client list encompasses a wide range of global financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Barclays, JP Morgan, UBS, and Citibank, and other leading players in the financial technology space including Coinbase, R3, ParaFi, Octaura and other startups and disruptors.  She advises clients on collaborative arrangements between users and creators of market infrastructure initiatives designed to transform sectors of the financial industry, including joint development, investment, and governance agreements.  Jenny’s unique insights into emerging technologies and regulatory challenges guide her clients through the process of technology development, the needs of financial industry users as well as the legal issues surrounding the creation of new technologies.  Jenny holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, with honors, from Catholic University of America and earned her J.D., with honors, at Georgetown University Law School.  She resides in Westchester County, New York with her husband and dog.
