Hannah Meakin is a partner in the Financial Services team in the London office of Norton Rose Fulbright LLP. She has a wide ranging practice but she particularly focuses on Fintech, market infrastructure and commodity derivatives. Hannah leads the regulatory side of the firm’s global and multi-disciplinary Fintech offering in the UK. Hannah has supported GBBC for many years and has been particularly active in the PTDL (Post-Trade Distributed Ledger) arm of the group.  She helped to set it up, has hosted and participated in a number of its events and now provides the regulatory update at its monthly meetings. Hannah has been involved in a variety of blockchain related work, both for regulated and unregulated clients. These include traditional financial institutions that have invested in or developed new offerings utilising distributed ledger technology, as well as fintechs looking to provide more efficient solutions or new products using new technology, and governments seeking to strike the right balance of regulation to encourage innovation while managing new types of risk. Hannah’s expertise in brokerage and the operation of trading venues, custody, settlement and clearing mean she is familiar with many of the legal and regulatory issues faced by market participants. Combined with her understanding of the regulators’ concerns and approach to regulation and supervision, she is well placed to assist clients in this area.
