            Aldion Baze

            Aldion is a senior legal and financial sector expert, with a deep knowledge and expertise in financial regulation, digital markets infrastructure and international investment law.

            For the past five years, Aldion has been serving as Director for the Supervision of DLT Financial Markets at the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority, where he spearheaded the design, establishment, and operationalization of the Authority’s crypto-asset supervisory directorate. His work has focused on shaping the regulatory architecture for digital assets, including the drafting of the national legal framework and regulatory bylaws, the authorization and supervision of crypto-asset service providers, and the development of cross-border supervisory and AML/CFT cooperation mechanisms. He also briefly served as Regulatory Affairs Advisor for Solidus Labs, a digital asset compliance firm in Wall Street, where he maintained relationships with regulator clients such as the U.S SEC, New York DFS, Abu Dhabi GM while also crafting regulator use cases and aligning product development with emerging regulatory requirements.

            Prior to his involvement at AFSA, he served as a State Attorney at the Foreign Litigation Department, where he represented the Republic of Albania in several multi-million dollar disputes before ICSID and ICC arbitration tribunals. In 2015, he was appointed as Advisor to the Mayor of Tirana, mainly covering legal and international affairs.

            Aldion holds an LLM degree in Law and Economics from University College London and a first class LLB bachelor's degree in law from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

            He pursued further specialisation courses at Harvard Law School on capital markets regulation and at the University of Oxford for the applicability of blockchain technology in business and public services. Since 2023, he is an IFC-Milken scholar, after successfully completing the 'IFC-Milken Capital Markets Program' in Washington D.C, focused on the development of deep and robust capital markets in emerging economies
